Mousetrap Theatre Projects is a theatre education charity dedicated to bringing the magic of theatre into the lives of young people. We open the doors to all that London's vibrant theatre scene has to offer, particularly to young people with limited means or opportunities.
We take over 12,000 young people to see a top London production each year through 16 varied programmes for schools, young people, teachers, youth groups and families. We enhance that experience with post-show talks, workshops, masterclasses and in-depth education programmes, using theatre as a catalyst to explore ideas, learn new skills, develop creativity and offer new perspectives.
Through our largest programme, TheatreOpeners, we take 4,500 secondary school students to see London’s top productions each year for only £7 a ticket. We also offer six Creative Learning programmes to state secondary schools, using theatre as a classroom resource to enhance the curriculum, invigorate learning, teach new skills and aid personal development. These education programmes are bespoke for each school to reflect students’ needs. Dynamic and experienced directors, playwrights, composers, actors, designers, critics and producers share their skills and expertise with young people, both in and out of the classroom, demonstrating a broad range of methodologies. All our education resources, for mainstream and special schools, are available to download from our website.
