One of the best known theatre companies in the world, the Royal Shakespeare Company keeps audiences in touch with Shakespeare as their contemporary. As well as Shakespeare, our repertoire includes classical plays and new work by contemporary writers.

We are an ensemble company. Everyone in the company, from directors, actors and writers to production, administrative, technical and workshop staff, collaborates in a distinctive and unmistakable approach to theatre.

Our theatres in Stratford-upon-Avon have been recently transformed to bring actors and audiences closer together. A brand new thrust stage auditorium at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre halves the distance of the further seat from the stage and we've reopened the much loved Swan Theatre. We have also created new public spaces, the Rooftop Restaurant and Bar, a new theatre tower, and riverside walkway for visitors to enjoy seven days a week, alongside our performances, exhibitions and events.

We perform regularly in London, Newcastle upon Tyne and on tour in the UK and across the world. We have a deeply held commitment to the development of theatre artists and we run a major education programme, working with schools and teachers to inspire in young people a life-long love of Shakespeare and learning.

Who ever loved that loved not at first sight
