Allegiance and Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Representation in Musical Theatre

Thursday October 21st, 5:30pm EST (this event will run for approximately 1 hour)

Digital Theatre+ and CHANGE Arts are delighted to invite you to this exclusive Professional Learning Experience.

Inspired by the true-life experience of its star, George Takei (Star Trek and Heroes), the new musical Allegiance follows one family’s extraordinary journey in an untold American story about Japanese Americans during World War II. Tony Award-winner Lea Salonga (Aladdin, Mulan, and Miss Saigon) and celebrated performer Telly Leung (Godspell and Glee) join Takei in this moving musical tale of forgiveness, joy, and the redemptive power of love.

By attending this exciting Professional Learning Experience, you'll get:

  • Fascinating insights from actor and activist George Takei and the team behind Allegiance into the making of a real Broadway musical, and Asian American and Pacific Islander representation in musical theatre history.
  • An exclusive live teaching demo to show you how to facilitate crucial conversations on AAPI representation and engage your students with these important issues.
  • Ready-to-go teaching resources that you can implement into your lessons straightaway.
  • Access to the star-studded production of Allegiance with a free trial of Digital Theatre+.
  • A Certificate of Attendance to present to your school district for staff development credit hours.

Plus, if you are unable to make the event on the day, you can sign up to get a free recording to watch at a time that suits you. Don't miss your chance to sign up for this important and inspiring event!
