My West End is a unique eight-part series created in partnership with Official London Theatre which shines a light on the backstage practitioners who work on some of the UK’s biggest shows. These exclusive videos reveal a whole world of possibilities for young people to be part of the next generation of technical, production and venue teams.
In this episode, Flys Supervisor Laurie Steiner and Stage Systems Supervisor Bill Harrison explore their roles working for English National Opera at the London Coliseum. Harrison discusses his responsibility for testing equipment and monitoring the infrastructure of the stage, while Steiner showcases the machinery used to lift parts of the set into the air for ENO’s adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
