Digital Theatre+ is proud to present an extensive new partnership with L.A. Theatre Works, bringing over 170 new audio plays onto the education platform. DT+’s three-million-strong global audience now benefits from L.A. Theatre Works’ mission to present, preserve and disseminate classic and contemporary plays. These productions can be experienced alongside DT’s own superb, high-definition recorded performances and specially commissioned study guides.
Blithe Spirit, Pygmalion, Kindertransport, The School for Scandal and A Midsummer Night's Dream are among the syllabus-specific plays DT’s subscribers will be hearing. The plays will substantially expand Digital Theatre+'s compendium of the greats including: Ibsen, Chekhov, Wilde, Coward, Miller, Moliere and Shakespeare, whilst bringing students and teachers right up to date with the likes of Sam Shepard, Bryony Lavery, David Mamet, Velina Hasu Houston and Yasmina Reza.
L.A. Theatre Work’s Producing Director, Susan Loewenberg, commented: “We know listening to plays unlocks the imagination, improves critical thinking skills and enhances concentration, so we are always excited at the prospect of reaching more students. Through this new partnership we will continue to expand the global reach of our astounding collection - built over the last 30 years.”
L.A. Theatre Works boasts the largest audio theatre library in the world. Its unique, hybrid form of audio theatre, and innovative use of technology in the production and dissemination of theatre, keeps this venerable art form thriving, assuring wide and affordable availability. This large-scale venture into audio content is a proud step forward by Digital Theatre+, with the increased multiplicity of digital forms bolstering the platform's reach and commitment to unlimited access.
Digital Theatre+’s Creative director and Co-Founder, Robert Delamere, enthused: “This is an incredible archive of human creativity – 170+ world-class audio plays and performances covering the full spectrum of dramatic styles, eras and writers. This partnership with L.A. Theatre Works is a real milestone in our mission to become a destination site for the arts and arts education. It’s a collaboration that underlines our desire to use a variety of digital means to expand access to, and understanding of, the arts in all its forms.”
