We asked Juliette McGirr (English teacher at Claremont High School Academy in London and long-standing supporter of Digital Theatre Plus) to share with us how she teaches AQA GCSE English Literature using our resource to help inspire her students, and ultimately improve grades. AQA, long term partners of Digital Theatre Plus, recently announced their new GCSE specifications for English Literature, which includes two titles - Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing; through our high definition films, supporting interviews, study guides and teaching support resources.
Juliette writes: "Using online productions has helped students to get to know the texts well...This has increased overall marks significantly, with many students moving from band 4 to band 5 through more sophisticated analysis."
Teach Much Ado About Nothing
Bring Much Ado About Nothing to life with our popular filmed performance starring student favourites, Catherine Tate and David Tennant. And with the recent release of the Broadway Digital Archive collection, ask students to compare and contrast using scenes from the iconic 1972 televised Broadway production.
David Morrissey and Julia Ford star in our celebrated capture of Macbeth. Watch the film and then delve deeper into the production with our feature-length interviews with the performers and creative teams. Teachers can also consider new approaches to the tragedy using 'Shakespeare in Your Space: Macbeth' - a film exploring how drama techniques can be used to teach from a new perspective. You can watch the Shakespeare in Your Space trailer here.
