Our in depth interview with King Lear study guide writer Carol Rutter is now availible!
In the interview, Carol discusses the relationship between Lear and his three daughters, explores how readers connect to Lear at different ages, and reflects on Shakespeare's age when he wrote the play - and much more...
Carol has had the good fortune to spend her entire working life in conversation with Shakespeare and his contemporaries. She is Professor of Shakespeare and Performance Studies at the University of Warwick where, for five years (2006-2011), she also directed the CAPITAL Centre - a Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning. The Centre develops innovative workshop-based teaching practices for undergraduates in collaboration with theatre practitioners at the Royal Shakespeare Company and Cheek by Jowl.
As a Shakespearean she has specialised in performance studies, and according to one reviewer:
There is no better interpreter of performance writing today.
Carol's King Lear study guide provides a detailed analysis of the plot and characters, highlights key language techniques and contextualises Shakespeare's life in the early 17th century. Subscribe to or sign up to a free trial of Digital Theatre Plus to read Carol's work.
