“I don’t believe that there is such a person as a director; I believe that it’s a role you play or shoes you put on.”
American theatre director and co-founder of the SITI company, Anne Bogart, talks to Professor Geoffrey Colman at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama during the symposium on Actor Training and Directing Pedagogy for the 21st Century.
Bogart explores the very act of making theatre, revealing her process of bringing a show to life from the initial exploration of a space through to working with her ensemble. She also discusses the development of the Viewpoints, a system which focuses on training to be flexible to issues of time and space, and its value in teaching us how to communicate with one another.
