Digital Theatre is thrilled to announce the capture of Frantic Assembly and State Theatre Company South Australia’s (STCSA) acclaimed production, Things I Know To Be True by Andrew Bovell.
The recording of the live production will be available to Digital Theatre’s worldwide education audience from Wednesday 22nd February 2017. This will be the second Frantic Assembly production (following Lovesong) to appear on Digital Theatre+.
The relationship between Frantic, STCSA and Digital Theatre is built on a shared desire to make the performing arts accessible to young people regardless of geographical, social or economic boundaries. It is this that drove the three organisations to collaborate on the capture of Things I Know To Be True. That’s made all the more important by the fact that Frantic Assembly is a recommended company on five British and international academic syllabuses and is studied widely at GCSE, BTEC, AS and A-Level as well as undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
As beautifully touching as it is funny and bold, Things I Know To Be True tells the story of a family and marriage through the eyes of four grown siblings struggling to define themselves beyond their parents' love and expectations. Parents Bob and Fran have worked their fingers to the bone and with their four children grown and ready to fly the nest it might be time to relax and enjoy the roses. But the changing seasons bring home some shattering truths. Things I Know To Be True is a complex and intense study of the mechanics of a family that is both poetic and brutally frank.
This new play by Andrew Bovell is the latest addition to the 340+ video and audio productions and 600+ educational resources already available on DT+. The Things I Know To Be True production will be accompanied by supporting educational resources, including interviews with cast and creatives, exclusive footage of a Frantic Assembly warmup, and an in-depth resource pack developed by Frantic Assembly.
Speaking about the latest capture, Robert Delamere, Digital Theatre’s Co-Founder and Creative Director, said, "Something of a phenomenon in education circles, Frantic Assembly and State Theatre Company South Australia's new piece, Things I Know To Be True, is a moving and visceral piece of contemporary theatre. Following on from our recent release of Iphigenia in Splott, Digital Theatre continues to bring startling, relevant and accessible theatre to students and educators worldwide."
Audiences can watch Things I Know To Be True online and via desktop, tablet and mobile from 22nd February 2017.
