Richard Schechner

Richard Schechner is University Professor Emeritus Tisch School of the Arts, New York University. Schechner is a founder of the field of performance studies and the author of the widely used textbook, Performance Studies – An Introduction. Schechner is editor of TDR: The Drama Review (the leading journal in the field of performance studies). He is the editor of the Enactments book series published by Seagull Books and distributed by the University of Chicago Press -- up to 2021, 25 books have been published in the Enactments series. Schechner is also editor of the Worlds of Performance Series published by Routledge. He is an advisory editor of the Asian Theatre Journal and the Journal of Ritual Studies.

Eugenio Barba

Eugenio Barba is an Italian theatre director and author, and director of Odin Teatret – a leading organisation in the ‘Third Theatre’ tradition – and the International School of Theatre Anthropology in Denmark. Recognized worldwide for his contributions to theatre, Barba has received numerous honorary doctorates and prestigious awards. In 2020, he co-founded the Fondazione Barba Varley, dedicated to supporting marginalized individuals both within and outside the theatre community. As an artist, scholar, and visionary, Eugenio Barba's enduring legacy lies in his groundbreaking work in multiple facets of theatre culture, using theatre as a powerful trans-cultural tool to foster connections among diverse communities. His dedication to exploring the boundaries of theatre and its impact on society continues to inspire generations of artists and scholars worldwide.
