"One of the best materials was this video essay/performance called 'Dear Mr. Shakespeare' that tackled racism in Othello. It is written and performed by a Black diasporic writer who presents the issues of race with a lot of complexity and consideration.
It was a great culmination of studying that play because it synthesized all the skills we had been practicing throughout the unit and challenged students to think critically about all of our conversations and activities to that point. Students were able to fall on different sides of the issue while supporting their arguments, change their minds a hundred times, and respect each other through the process."
