How Digital Theatre+ Supports the Florida Seal of Fine Arts

In schools across Florida, the Seal of Fine Arts encourages students to engage with performing and visual arts to attain a state-level honor. This pursuit can boost student achievement in multiple disciplines, and supports career-readiness through the development of 21st-century skills.
Here's how Digital Theatre+ supports the Florida Seal of Fine Arts...
- Equip students for future career ambitions
- Develop innovative 21st-century skills
- Promote increased access to a well-rounded education
Equip students for future career ambitions
Part of the eligibility criteria for the Fine Arts Seal in Florida is for students to complete at least three year-long courses in either dance, music, theatre, or visual arts (with a grade of 'A' or higher).
As with any discipline, setting high ambitions for academic achievement (while still prioritizing student well-being) helps to instill a sense of drive and purpose in students. But theatre and the arts, in particular, go a step further in developing resilience and determination.
Many of our resources focus on the lived experiences of creatives in the industry. Featuring sit-down interviews with the likes of Julie Walters, Imelda Staunton, and Adrian Lester, our Theatre Lives series helps to illustrate the hard work that goes into 'achieving your dreams', and with 200+ resources under the themes of 'Ambition' and 'Courage & Heroism', students have 24/7 access to relatable and inspiring performances to remind them of what they are working towards.
As DT+ customer Margo (Theatre Director, Texas) explained, "If you're truly passionate about the arts, and you want to help young people – whether they pursue this as a professional career or not – then you really need to invest in theatre."
How does Digital Theatre+ help you teach an engaging theatre curriculum?
Develop innovative 21st-century skills
One of the five additional requirements to achieve the Florida Seal of Fine Arts is to receive district, state, or national recognition for an original work of art.
Through this process, students are encouraged to develop a variety of 21st-century skills, from the critical thinking necessary in taking a project from start to finish, to the communication skills required in performing or presenting the finished piece.
DT+ supports the practical creation of this original work of art, with e-learning resources spanning the entire creative process. Some examples include:
- Devising Theatre: A Kickstart Worksheet on Devising and Improvising, and Developing a Concept for a Devised Work Lesson Plan
- Staging and Rehearsal: Guiding the Audience's Eye with Scott Graham (Director, Frantic Assembly), and A Guide to Active Analysis in Rehearsal Study Guide
- Technical Theatre: Collaborating on Music and Sound workshop with musician and sound designer David Coulter, and the Encounters series on Costume & Character
Many of these topics include teacher-facing resources, allowing you to better support your students by offering advice and using bookmarks to provide a framework for independent and self-led research.

Promote increased access to a well-rounded education
At DT+, we are always thinking (and writing!) about the benefits of theatre in providing a well-rounded education. These benefits extend to students who do not plan to pursue a career in the creative arts, allowing them to build their emotional intelligence and develop confidence in their ideas and identity.
To show you what we mean, here's what some customers say about DT+...
"Every education system should adopt DT+ for its institution. The content is versatile, resourceful, and can be applied to almost any subject for use across the curriculum. It's a win-win for everyone!"
– Deborah, ELA Teacher in Alabama
"DT+ allows teachers to 'flip' the classroom. Students can engage with material outside of class, leaving class time for important collaborative and creative work. And there's also the opportunity to engage with other teachers across the campus, to truly integrate theatre into all disciplines of learning."
– Marjorie, Theatre Teacher in California
"Having DT+ available helps our students develop as well-rounded artists. It expands their world view, and makes them all the more employable after graduation."
– Jeremy, Director of Music and Theatre, Colorado
