Spotlight On: New Productions

This year also saw the arrival of new content on the Digital Theatre+ platform, including theatrical productions, and accompanying written, audio, and visual teaching resources.

Here are some highlights from the year:

A Raisin in the Sun

Lorraine Hansberry was the first Black woman to have a play produced on Broadway, and A Raisin in the Sun has since become a staple of English and Theatre curricula. It tackles important themes of race, economic disparity, family dynamics, and the pursuit of the American Dream.

These key scene extracts were captured live by DT+ from Tinuke Craig's 2024 production, a HeadlongLeeds PlayhouseLyric Hammersmith Theatre, and Nottingham Playhouse co-production. Exclusive license for limited use of scenes from A Raisin in the Sun granted by Joi Gresham and the Lorraine Hansberry Literary Trust (LHLT).

Puffs

Set in a certain school of magic, Puffs is told through the eyes of the underdog. While a familiar boy wizard was destined to defeat evil, the Puffs are just trying to make it through a very treacherous magic school.

Captured live off-Broadway in 2018, this hilarious play blends quick-fire comedy, inventive staging, and a fondness for all things magic.

Macbeth

Directed by Max Webster, and captured live at the Donmar Warehouse in 2024, this modern interpretation of Shakespeare's classic stars David Tennant and Cush Jumbo.

During its run at the Donmar Warehouse, audience members wore headphones to experience the immersive 3D soundscape, which can be replicated by using headphones to watch this filmed version, available as an exclusive educational license to Digital Theatre+.
