Discover Innovative Teaching Ideas for Theatre & ELA in 2025
For most people, a new year means new goals. But for educators, we know that there's one professional goal that keeps coming back, year after year...
The Digital Theatre+ community has told us that finding fresh ideas to spark inspiration in the classroom will continue to be a top priority in the new year.
Our team is already working on a number of projects to help you achieve this goal - to get you started, check out the latest productions and content that have been added to DT+ for 2025...
Production: A Midsummer Night's Dream (RSC)
The first full-length theatre production of A Midsummer Night's Dream to land on DT+, Eleanor Rhode's modern production earned five stars from The Guardian, who described it as 'a ravishing fusion of flamboyance, surrealism, and raucous fun'.
A spectacle of performance, this production is well-suited to High School lessons on:
- Production Design
- Illusion in Theatre
- Physicality & Movement

Production & Interviews: Macbeth (ETT)
Another new Shakespeare production, the English Touring Theatre's Macbeth was captured live at the Bristol Old Vic in 2024. This production stars Mike Noble (Game, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime) as Macbeth, and Laura Elsworthy (Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew) as Lady Macbeth.
From a wholly unique portrayal of the witches, to a multimedia format that sees Macbeth walk the stage with a handheld camera, the ETT's Macbeth is a practical and engaging resource for encouraging new, diverse interpretations of Shakespeare. It is also especially suited to discussions around set design and technical theatre.
Alongside the production, students can further enrich their learning with behind-the-scenes interviews:
- On Directing Macbeth: Richard Twyman (Director)
- On Designing Macbeth: Will Duke (Production Designer)
